The Varian 21EX is a high-energy linear accelerator designed for image-guided radiation therapy and radiosurgery. Powerful, reliable, cost-efficient, and versatile, the 21EX can be used to provide Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and precision radiotherapy for lesions, tumors, and other conditions requiring radiation treatment.
The Varian 21EX is a powerful, reliable, cost-efficient, and versatile linear accelerator designed for image-guided radiation therapy and radiosurgery. Equipped with Varian's proven technology, the 21EX can optimize the radiation delivery in a manner that keeps the other organs or tissues near the target area safe. It can also be used for Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). The 21EX is equipped with the RapidArc technology that utilizes precise portal imaging of the tumor area. The high-energy linear accelerator is also provided with the On-Board Imager (OBI) that can perform rapid imaging that is combined with a powerful generator and a higher dose rate to reduce the treatment time, which, in turn, improves the safety factor for both the patient and the clinician. The 21EX is provided with a 52-leaf, MLC, 80-leaf MLC or 120-leaf MLC with a maximum photon dose rate of 600 MU/minute. The improved isocenter alignment of the gantry, couch, and imagers allows for stable and accurate positioning. These features are combined with the enhanced collimator to enable the medical personnel to tailor their treatment for a specific patient. The Varian 21EX can also perform intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). The IMRT is configured for modulating and contouring the radiation beam to predetermined levels of intensity and shape based on the needs of the procedure.
