The Varian 23EX is a powerful, reliable, and versatile standing wave accelerator designed for image-guided radiation therapy and radiosurgery. Featuring Varian's time-tested technology, the 23EX optimizes the delivery of radiation without damaging the organs or tissues near the target area. It can also be used for Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). The 23EX is equipped with the RapidArc technology that utilizes accurate and precise focal spot size for improved portal imaging of the tumor area. The accelerator is also provided with the On-Board Imager (OBI) for performing rapid imaging, and when combined with a powerful generator and a higher dose rate, it can reduce the treatment time. This, in turn, improves the safety factor for both the patient and the clinician. The 23EX is provided with an 80-leaf MLC or 120-leaf MLC with a maximum photon dose rate of 600 MU/minute. The improved isocenter alignment of the gantry, couch, and imagers allows for stable and accurate positioning. These features are combined with the enhanced collimator to enable the medical personnel to tailor their treatment for a specific patient. The Varian 23EX can also perform IMRT and SRS.
