Powered Instrument Consoles

Powered Instrument Consoles

Surgical instrument consoles are used to power up electrically-driven surgical handpieces and are equipped with microprocessors to help provide added control. Device management software is also installed into these consoles and it exercises control over the console itself, the graphical user interface (GUI), the irrigation pump, and the connected handpieces and footswitches. Many surgical instrument consoles can accommodate multiple handpieces and footswitches at a time, and these instruments can be operated simultaneously. Some surgical instrument consoles are built with a touchscreen interface and will only display the options related to the connected handpiece as these vary among different handpieces. Surgical instrument consoles are cost-effective machines that promote safety inside the operating room, while helping surgeons deliver accurate and consistent surgical performance.
