The Leica M720 OH5 is a surgical microscope specifically designed to be used in neurosurgery and spine surgery in the operating room of hospitals and clinics. It features a Horizontal Optics Technology and a stand that provide users improved maneuvering precision and positioning flexibility during surgical procedures. These features give surgeons greater space to work, an improved field of view, and better comfort that greatly enhances safety and success of the procedure.
The Leica M720 OH5 is a surgical microscope designed to be used for neurosurgery in hospitals and clinics. Developed by Leica Microsystems, the OH5 combines the proven Leica technology with an ergonomic design and Horizontal Optics Technology that improve user comfort and enhance the functionality of the microscope. The Horizontal Optics Technology provided to the M720 OH5 greatly increases the working distance for cranial and spine procedures. Horzontally designed, the optics technology native to this Leica surgical microscope allows the medical personnel to cover awkward procedures wherein patients are positioned upward, such as posterior fossa cranial surgery. An additional benefit of the Horizontal Optics Technology is that it reduces the size of the optics head which, in turn, improves the comfort level during procedures. The M720 OH5 is provided with Leica Butterfly-Binoculars. The Leica Butterfly-Binoculars further decrease the size of the optical system while increasing the inclination range to 115 degrees. It also enables the eyepieces to swing to a second viewing piece while allowing the microscope to accommodate all body heights and handle even the most challenging surgical positions. The surgical microscope is provided with BrightCare and AutoIris technologies which improve the safety of the patient. The BrightCare automatically controls the intensity of light based on the working distance while the AutoIris is adapted to automatically control the light diameter based on the magnification. The M720 OH5 is also equipped with a fast system reboot which allows the microscope to reset in less than 30 seconds if the power cable is disconnected.
