The GE Lightspeed 16 is a multi-slice computed tomography scanner designed to acquire high-resolution images from a wide range of applications. The fourth-generation 16 Slice LightSpeed unit can acquire 16 images per gantry rotation to deliver unparalleled images with better resolution at quicker speeds and to allow the medical personnel to have greater clinical confidence in their diagnosis.
The GE product utilizes a number of innovations that deliver speed with sub-millimeter resolution and effective dose optimization for advanced clinical applications. It offers true 16-slice acquisition, available in all scan modes and all scan speeds, to provide routine thin-slice imaging. The system features microVoxel resolution and cubic CT data sets to deliver superior image quality in three-dimensional and multi-planar reformatting with little to no difference from axial imaging.
The CT system is designed to obtain a virtually artifact-free, diagnostic-quality images at reduced patient dose by utilizing the innovative OptiDose. The OptiDose includes the Smart mA, SmartTrack, SmartBeam, HiRes Chest Protocol, CTDI display during exam prescription and no active post-patient collimation. It is also provided with a Color Coding for Kids program, including easy-to-use protocols, based on the Broselow-Luten Pediatric System, that helps standardize and reduce radiation errors in CT exams in children.
The benchmark in CT scanners, the LightSpeed delivers true ultra-thin 16-slice imaging with superior resolution. The LightSpeed 16 is adapted to combine the power of X-ray technology and computers to enable physicians to view wafer-thin cross-sections of internal anatomy without the need for surgery.
