The Toshiba Aquilion 16 is a precision 16-Slice whole-body computed tomography (CT) scanner designed to obtain high-resolution images over a wide range of applications. The Aquilion 16 is a high-powered, compact, and versatile CT scanner that is equipped with Toshiba's premium technologies configured to reduce the scan times, decrease the radiation dose, and enhance the workflow efficiency and the patient comfort.
The Aquilion 16 is equipped with a slip-ring technology, high-power generator, and a high-quality image acquisition system. The slip-ring tech is designed to perform 0.32-second partial scans and 0.5-second routine scans. The imaging system is equipped with 896 channels in forty rows of solid-state detectors which enable the device to provide unparalleled low-contrast and high-contrast resolutions. It also features a high-voltage circuit that can generate 60kW of power able to support the 7.5 MHU X-ray tube which makes it possible for helical scanning.
The CT scanner is also provided with the SURETechnolology and the Real Exposure Control Superior Detector Technology. The SURETechnology is designed to provide maximum productivity and high-quality images at the lowest possible dose. The Real Exposure Control Superior Detector Technology allows the device to deliver high-resolution images, also at a reduced dose, by automatically modifying the tube current based on the anatomy of the patient.
The Aquilion 16 features an 18-inch LCD monitor, mouse, hybrid keyboard, the eXam Plan Technology, and VoiceLink to improve its ease of use. The medical personnel can automate the scanning procedure by using the eXam Plan Technology. The CT scanner can also perform a scanning procedure when prompted by vocal instructions via the VoiceLink. Compatible with the DICOM 3.0, the Aquilion 16 also offers superior image management. The acquired images can be stored on a magneto-optical hard disk, or transferred via a gigabit Ethernet connection using the DICOM 3.0 standards.
