The Drager Evita XL Ventilator is a mechanical ventilator which can be used to provide ventilation support for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in ICU environments. The Evita XL is provided with features engineered to improve the workflow efficiency and provide a user-friendly interface to enhance the interactions between the patient, the device, and the clinician, and improve the comfort of the patient hooked into the ventilator system.
The Evita 4 has a user interface and a touchscreen display which are designed to speed up routine tasks. The full-color display is adapted to provide a comprehensive customized overview of the patient's therapy and only shows the active control elements to assure immediate recognition of the required settings.
The Evita 4 Ventilator has features and modalities such as AutoFlow and APRV which makes it well suited for use as a long-term ventilator for intensive care regardless of if the patient is an adult, neonate, or a child. The ventilator has a number of ventilation modes including Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation (IPPV), Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation (SIMV), Mandatory Minute Volume Ventilation (MMV), Spontaneous Breathing (SB) Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), Biphasic Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP), and Airway Pressure Release Ventilation (APRV). It is also provided with special modes such as Apnea Ventilation and Independent Lung Ventilation (ILV).
The Evita 4's modular design gives it the upward compatibility and upgradeability not found in other ventilation systems. The condensation in the patient system and the expiration valve is reduced by optimizing the design of the patient heating, expiration block housing, and flow sensor cover. And since the medical personnel are likely familiar with the Drager systems, less training would be required. These features help in improving the cost-effectiveness of the device.
