The Smith & Nephew 460P Camera Console aims to maximize control of a surgeon over the imaging system to produce excellent color rendition and high-resolution images. The enhancement control, for example, allows the user to improve the contrast and edges of anatomical features. The digital zoom feature also allows the surgeon to see in areas that are difficult to visualize in the past.
The console is equipped with four digital ports: one IEEE-1394 digital video (DV), one Serial Digital Interface SDI), and two digital visual interface supporting DVI-Digital (HD-DVI 29-pin). This gives more flexibility in choosing display monitors, as the system can work with several connections at the same time.
For analog display, the console also has two S-Video (4-pin mini-DIN), and one composite (BNC) analog port. These options allow the system to be backwards compatible with previous generations of monitors. Videos can be captured and saved through the use of a USB storage device. Videos are stored as MPEG4 and are playable both on PC and MAC computers.
