The Hologic Selenia Mammography System provides specialized medical imaging through a low-dose of x-ray for breast examination, and aids in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women. It uses digital mammography for enhanced precision, improved image quality, and lower dose of radiation. Its direct conversion detector eliminates the need to convert x-rays to light, resulting to exceptionally sharp digital image with greater consistency. It also significantly reduces radiation scatter through its High Transmission Cellular Grid Technology, resulting to higher contrast images. Additionally, it has an optional tungsten x-ray tube with rhodium and silver filters to reduce radiation dose to the patient without sacrificing image quality and contrast of images.
One crucial component of the Hologic Selenia Mammography System is the Selenia TechMate acquisition console, which acquires images, access Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) tools, and displays previous images and compare them to new ones without leaving the patient or interrupting ongoing examinations. The console also has dual display screens that can swivel and extend, accommodating the working preferences of technologists. The Selenia Techmate console can also work with SecurView workstations and allow convenient access to centralized workstations, providing enhanced flexibility and support.
Another critical component is the SecurView Diagnostic Workstation, which provides the best diagnostic tools for interpreting images. Its customizable image layout and orientation allows images to be displayed in individualized settings for diagnostic, screening, or multiple modalities. It can interactively mirror and flip images for evaluation and comparison. Its integrated computer aided detection (CAD) efficiently displays areas that may need closer attention or a second review. Also, its ergonomically designed keypad is arranged logically, grouping functions and image display tools together, and save time in device handling.
The Hologic Selenia Mammography System is also DICOM 2007 compliant for optimized connectivity.
