The SonoSite HFL38 Ultrasound Probe is a linear array transducer type that operates at a frequency of 13 to 6 MHz and has a scan depth of 6 centimeters. It is effective in clinical applications such as nerve ultrasound for the diagnosis of peripheral nerve disorders, and vascular ultrasound to evaluate arteries or veins in nearly any part of the body - including blood vessels in the neck, abdomen, arms and legs. Its musculoskeletal ultrasound applications help in producing pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints throughout the body and effectively help in diagnosing sprains, strains, tears, and other soft tissue conditions. Additionally, it is used in small parts ultrasound to evaluate many of the superficial organs of the body such as the thyroid gland, the neck and the testes for signs of disease, and Intima-media thickness (IMT) ultrasound to detect the presence, track the regression, and arrest the progression of atherosclerosis. The SonoSite HFL38 Ultrasound Probe is well suited for the SonoSite MicroMaxx ultrasound system.
