The SonoSite HFL38x Ultrasound Probe is a linear array transducer type that operates at a frequency of 13 to 6 MHz and has a scan depth of 6 centimeters. It is effective in clinical applications such as carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) ultrasound to detect the presence and extent of atherosclerosis in an artery, vascular ultrasound to evaluate arteries or veins in nearly any part of the body, and nerve ultrasound for the diagnosis of peripheral nerve disorders. It is also used in musculoskeletal ultrasound to produce images of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints throughout the body and effectively help in diagnosing sprains, strains, tears, and other soft tissue conditions. Additionally, it is used in venous ultrasound to search for blood clots (a condition often referred to as deep vein thrombosis) especially in the veins of the leg. The SonoSite HFL38x Ultrasound Probe is built to work with the SonoSite M-Turbo ultrasound system.
