The SonoSite L38v Ultrasound Probe is a linear transducer that emits soundwaves from 10 to 5 MegaHertz and has a scan depth of 9 centimeters. It is effectively used in breast ultrasound to screen for lumps, tumors, and other breast abnormalities, lung ultrasound for the assessment of soft tissues, ribs, pleura and lung sliding, and ophthalmic ultrasound as a diagnostic tool for evaluating various ophthalmic disorders such as corneal opacities, anterior chamber opacities, cataracts, vitreous hemorrhage, or inflammatory opacities. It is also used in musculoskeletal ultrasound to produce pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints throughout the body and help diagnose sprains, strains, tears, and other soft tissue conditions. Another of its application is in vascular ultrasound to examine the circulation in the blood vessels of the body and help identify blockages in the arteries and veins, and nerve ultrasound for the diagnosis of peripheral nerve disorders. It is compatible with the SonoSite iViz ultrasound system.
