Zeiss OPMI NC-4 Surgical Microscope

The Zeiss OPMI NC-4 is a surgical microscope designed to be used for neurosurgery in hospitals and clinics. Developed by Carl Zeiss Meditec, the NC-4 combines the proven Zeiss technology with an ergonomic design and the integrated Heads-Up Display (HUD) and AutoFocus technologies to improve user comfort and enhance the overall functionality of the microscope.

The NC4 eliminates the need for bringing image guided surgery (IGS) instruments into the surgical field since the NC-4 is compatible with many market-leading IGS systems. In combination with the integrated IGS system, the laser-guided AutoFocus system native to the OPMI NC-4 can reliably pinpoint an area of interest and improve the depth of field. It is also equipped with an integrated HUD which allows the users to directly see key information via the eyepiece.

The surgical microscope is provided with a two-light path to reduce the shadows in deep cavities while the Superlux 301 provides sufficient illumination to the surgical field. This innovated optical system features aprochromatic coatings to improve the color fidelity, eliminate distortions, and provide crisp and clear images. The redesigned zoom function and the unique AutoFocus technology not only improve the depth of field, it also reduces eye strain and fatigue. These features, in turn, enhance the overall surgical workflow.

The OPMI NC-4 features the Contraves counterbalancing technology and the FlexiTrak base that allows the NC-4 to be transported easily and safely. While it can be maneuvered and moved easily, the NC-4 remains one of the most well-balanced surgical microscopes in the market since it can be quickly and simply re-balanced by using four simple steps without the need for tools.
